Pete Robinson is Chairman of Troutman Sanders Strategies, a full-service federal, state and local lobbying/issue management firm, and a partner in Troutman Sanders LLP. He specializes in issue management, comprehensive government relations coordination, and state legislative and procurement matters.

Robinson has extensive experience in both elected and representative roles with the state legislature, serving 10 years in the Georgia General Assembly as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives and the Georgia State Senate, where he served as President Pro-Tem and Senate Majority Leader. He is the only Senate President Pro-Tem ever to be nominated for that role by both the Republican and Democratic leaders of the Georgia Senate.

In the past six years, Robinson has developed a specialty in strategic and governmental business consulting, which includes counseling with clients on the establishment and reorganization of in-house operations, assistance with staffing and placement decisions and assessments of public policy needs. He has focused on shifting clients’ goals out of traditional, defensive-oriented programs into more aggressive, profitable departments that not only protect the company’s unique business model, but also provide the core business with a return on its investment.

Robinson co-founded Troutman Sanders Strategies with Troutman Sanders LLP in 2002. Under his leadership, the firm has grown from a single office operation, into a comprehensive, national issue management firm with offices in Washington, D.C., Atlanta, and Richmond, with more than 20 federal and state lobbyists.

Prior to joining the Troutman Sanders, Robinson spent eight years in private practice representing clients’ needs before the Georgia General Assembly and other agencies of state government. His background was primarily in state government relations, but he expanded the platform into a full federal and state operation serving clients including: The Coca-Cola Company, General Electric Company, Microsoft Corporation, AFLAC Corporation, Merck and Company, Southern Company, Synovus Financial Corporation, Carmax, Citigroup and numerous others. Before his lobbying and government relations’ career began, he also gained significant experience as a commercial and insurance litigator.

Robinson and his wife, Emily, have three children – Carolyn (17), Miller (14) and Grant (10).
