Atlanta, GA (Thursday, September 17, 2009) –Troutman Sanders Strategies (TSS) announced today that former manager, Stephanie Carter, recently accepted a new position with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) as the Special Assistant to the Commissioner for Policy and Projects.
Prior to accepting the position, which will report directly to the GDOT commissioner, Carter served four years with TSS, advocating corporate issues with government relations for the state of Georgia, general assembly and various executive branch agencies. Some of her clientele under the TSS brand included Verizon, Citi Group and GE.
GDOT Commissioner Vance C. Smith, Jr. said, "I am very excited to have Stephanie join our team at GDOT. Her knowledge of the Capitol will be an asset in our partnership to move transportation forward. Her time with Troutman Sanders Strategies has definitely prepared her for a road of success with the GDOT."

Robb Willis, a Principal at Troutman Sanders Strategies and leader of the firm’s State Governmental Affairs Practice said, “Carter developed extensive experience with us at TSS, affecting policy on all fronts of state government. Stephanie was a true asset, as she represented client needs on issues relating to technology, telecommunication, tax policy and residential construction. We will miss her role at TSS, but know that her experience and capabilities will serve her well, and will be of great benefit to the commissioner and many others at the GDOT.”
