JOHN FRESHMAN TO JOIN TROUTMAN SANDERS PUBLIC AFFAIRS GROUP

Veteran lobbyist brings added environmental expertise and expands footprint to western states
Washington, D.C. - Troutman Sanders Public Affairs Group, LLC announced today that Washington government relations veteran John Freshman has joined the Group’s Federal Affairs team in Washington as Senior Vice President.

The addition of Freshman gives Troutman Sanders Public Affairs Group, with offices in Washington, Richmond, and Atlanta, a new presence in the western United States and unique experience in environmental matters and water resource issues.

“With John’s in-depth knowledge of water resources and environmental issues, coupled with his significant government, Capitol Hill and lobbying expertise, our firm is strategically positioned to help corporations and public entities meet their public policy objectives. We are excited to have him on the team,” said Rob Leebern, head of the Group’s Federal Affairs practice.

In addition to his years of lobbying, Freshman’s knowledge of national environmental policy and proven track record on water supply and infrastructure issues comes from years of experience handling these issues at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), The White House, and the U.S. Senate. He has distinguished himself as a leader in the complex world of western water supply working extensively for large public agencies in Sacramento, Southern California and the Monterey peninsula. Among others, his clients include Anheuser- Busch. He also represents clients in California, South Dakota, and Texas.

Freshman comes to Troutman Sanders from Freshman, Kast, Inc., a boutique lobbying and regulatory firm he founded in 1981. He is a graduate of Middlebury College in Vermont and resides in Bethesda with his family. Freshman joins a team of senior lobbyists that include Rob Leebern, former Chief of Staff to U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-GA), and Laura Quattlebaum, former Legislative Director to Congressman Jack Kingston (R-GA).
